Speak Lord!

As we behold the present conditions of our immediate surroundings as well as our world, it is quite evident that God is speaking; and, he is trying to get our attention. However, the sad part is most of us are not listening to the voice of God.

In John the 8th chapter, verse 47 says:
"He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God."

Throughout the pages of the Bible, we find a God who loves us and wants the very best for each of us.

Sometimes God speaks to us directly. At other times, God speaks to us through others. In either case we must respond obediently to the voice of God.

God called Samuel by name three times and each time Samuel mistook the voice to be that of Eli's call. Eli finally tells Samuel that if he hears the voice again to reply, Speak Lord for your servant is listening.

We often say that we want to hear from Heaven. We often ask the question, "Is there a word from the Lord?"

We must first understand that God does speak and God is speaking. The problem is we don't listen. What prevents us from hearing? Could it be that we never listen? Could it be we don't want to listen? Could it be that we need to discipline ourselves to hear the voice of God?

We must discipline ourselves through PRAYER! We must discipline ourselves through FASTING! We must discipline ourselves through OBEDIENCE TO THE WORD! We must discipline ourselves through PATIENCE! For they that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength. Discipline ourselves by acknowledging God, trusting God and waiting on an answer.

The Bible says, Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways, acknowledge God and He shall direct thy path.

"Speak Lord for your servant heareth."

Many of us have missed God's call because we have been too busy being in control of our lives, listening to others, and trying to do thinks our own way. We are reluctant to hear God's call because of the changes He requires of us.

We must change our attitude. We must change our way of walking. We must change our way of talking. We must change our way of living. We must change our way of giving.

We must live HOLY! We must live SOBERLY. We must live RIGHTEOUSLY! We must live GODLY! For if any man be in Christ he is a new creature, old things are passed away and behold all things have become new.

"Speak Lord for your servant heareth."

God speaks to us in many ways. He's speaking through natural disasters. He's speaking through wars and rumors of wars. He's speaking through famines and pestilence. He's speaking through the prophet, priest, preacher and pastor.

"Speak Lord for your servant heareth."
